Committee recommends internal control requirements
At a meeting Thursday, the Sports Betting Committee approved staff-recommended processes and documents that direct operator-applicants how to construct and submit their proposed internal controls for review. The commission will review this recommendation at its Jan. 10 meeting. Internal control document are important for ensuring compliance. Each licensed operator must receive approval of internal controls before offering bets in North Carolina. At this time the applications of seven prospective operators are under review.
Commission staff invite Independent Testing Laboratories to seek approval
Qualified entities that wish to serve as Independent Testing Laboratories approved by the Commission are invited to submit written materials to staff as soon as possible. Read the communication from staff here.
Second set of sports wagering rules adopted
During a public meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 13, the North Carolina State Lottery Commission adopted the second set of rules governing sports wagering. The new rules go into effect Jan. 8, 2024.
Revisions proposed for Rulemaking Package 2
During a public meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 6, the Sports Betting Committee of the North Carolina State Lottery Commission reviewed and adopted staff recommendations for the second set of rules governing sports wagering and recommended their approval to the full commission. Public comments submitted to the Commission during the expedited rulemaking process informed staff recommendations. Application for sports betting licenses now available
Parties interested in applying for sports betting licenses can now begin their applications. Application request forms are located on the Licensing webpage along with sample applications forms. After submitting a request, interested parties will get a unique “live” link by email. Applications can be started for an interactive sports wagering operator license, a service provider license, and a sports wagering supplier license. Interested parties also can review FAQs on application and licensing at the Frequently Asked Questions webpage and submit a question on applications and licensing using the Have A Sports Wagering License Question? webform.
