First monthly report on sports wagering activity posted

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission on Tuesday released its first monthly sports wagering activity report. The report compiles the sports wagering activity in March as submitted by the eight licensed interactive sports wagering operators. Between the start of sports wagering in North Carolina at noon on March 11 through March 31, North Carolinians wagered $659,308,541 on sports events, including paid wagering revenue and promo wagering revenue. Deadline approaches for public comments on proposed sports wagering rules

During a public meeting on March 20, 2024, the Sports Betting Committee of the North Carolina State Lottery Commission approved commencing a rulemaking process and issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. The Commission will accept public comments regarding these rules through 11:59 p.m. ET, April 19. To submit comments, utilize the Commission public comment webform located at this link. The webform offers a place to easily comment on a specific rule and provide any suggested changes. If you prefer to submit comments in another format, please email comments to PublicComment@ncgaming.gov, along with your name and contact information, business or organization (if applicable), and the rule numbers to which your comments relate.

Commission reports on first day and first week of sports wagering

At a meeting on Wednesday, March 27, the North Carolina State Lottery Commission released information on the first day and first week of sports wagering, including total wagering revenue, the amount of sports wagers and promotional wagers made on mobile devices, and gross wagering revenue, the total wagering revenue less the amount paid out as winning before any deductions for expenses, fees, or taxes. During the first 12 hours of wagering on the first day, March 11, total wagering revenue amounted to $23.9 million and the gross wagering revenue amounted to $11 million. During the first week, total wagering revenue amounted to $198.1 million and the gross wagering revenue amounted to $42.7 million.
