Deadline approaches for public comments on proposed sports wagering rules

During a public meeting on Sept. 18, 2024, the Sports Betting Committee of the North Carolina State Lottery Commission approved starting a rulemaking process and issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. The Commission will accept public comments regarding these rules online through 11:59 p.m. ET, Oct. 18. Comments can also be emailed to PublicComment@ncgaming.gov, along with your name, contact information, business or organization (if applicable), and the rule numbers associated with your comment. Report on sports wagering revenue in September posted

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission is releasing its sports betting revenue report for September. It compiles the revenue in the month as submitted by the eight licensed interactive sports betting operators. Between Sept. 1 and Sept. 30, account holders in North Carolina bet $575,398,078 on sports events, including paid and promotional bets. From those bets, they won $501,559,590. North Carolina State Lottery Commission receives update on pari-mutuel wagering

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission received an update Wednesday on the next steps to implement pari-mutuel horse race wagering. That includes a rulemaking process to set specific requirements for pari-mutuel online and mobile wagering operations. The Commission and staff continue to carefully work through the process efficiently and responsibly. There is no projected launch date at this time. Public comment on the Notice of Rulemaking will be open online through 11:59 p.m. Oct. 18. You can also attend a public comment session on Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. at the North Carolina State Lottery Commission Headquarters, 2728 Capital Boulevard, Suite 144, Raleigh, NC 27604.
